[Video] The new BMW X5 M Competition against Ducati Panigale V4 S

The new BMW M5 X Competition is insanely fast considering its size, just like a school bus. This midsize SUV’s exhilarating power comes from its 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This results in a whopping 617 horsepower and a maximum torque of 553Nm. Is this power enough to take on the Ducati Panigale V4 S?

Joe Achilles has released a new video in which the new BMW X5 M Competition takes on a Ducati Panigale V4 S, which is a true beast of a bike. It produces 205 horsepower while weighing less than a tenth of the X5 M. As a result, it has a much better power-to-weight ratio than the X5 M. It does, however, have to direct all of its power to a single, relatively skinny tire. So, which is the quickest?

The Ducati, of course. The crazy power-to-weight ratios that superbikes can achieve are simply unmatched. The Ducati produces a third of the horsepower of the X5 while weighing just slightly more than the X5’s wheels and tires. The BMW X5 M Competition does, admittedly, launch a little harder than the Panigale V4 S since it has more torque and traction, as well as a more complicated launch mechanism. However, once both bikes are connected and start putting down serious fuel, the Ducati pulls away from the X5 without breaking a sweat.

So, what exactly is the purpose of this competition? There isn’t much to it; it’s just for a good time. It will be fascinating to see how well the new BMW X5 M Competition will accelerate from a standstill. If it can get the jump on a real superbike, it can get the jump on almost everything else it sees at a stoplight.
