BMW plans to build a factory in Brazil to meet high demand

Automotive News reports today that BMW is currently deciding where the location of their new plant will be. This new plant is needed for the expansion that BMW is planning and in meeting the demands of the consumers around the world for BMW cars. The Brazilian market is being considered as a potential location of the plant because of its good economic growth in the recent years. The meet BMW Group’s sales goal 2 million cars every year in 2020, they will really need an additional plant.

Norbert Reithofer, CEO of BMW, says that they are better prepared for a potential crisis compared to what happened in 2009. They have successfully lowered production costs and now has a better financial cushion. It has been a good 2011 for BMW with sales continuously breaking records. With the introduction of the new 3 Series sedan in early 2012, the company anticipates increased sales in U.S., China and Europe. Christmas breaks in BMW factories are kept short to meet demand.
