BMW M Division Boss confirms the 1-Series M and Turbo M5

It is about time that somebody inside BMW confirms the upcoming 1-Series M and Turbo M5. Rumors have been spreading on the web for quite some time now, and BMW M Division boss Dr. Kay Segler now confirms the truth amidst all these.

Segler officially confirms that the 1-Series based M model will be launched in the second quarter of 2011. But he did not confirm the official name of this M model. What is surprising though is the revelation that this will not carry the M1 badge. Thus, the M1 badge will remain loyal to the original M1 supercar launched 30 years ago.

Thus, this car will most likely be unvelied at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show or the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Until then, we will be waiting for more news about this release.
