[Video] Check out the 2023 BMW X1 xDrive23i In M Portimao Blue

BMW’s new X1 offers a wide range of configuration choices because the automaker recognises that variety is the spice of life. On show at BMW Welt in Munich is an xDrive23i with the M Sport Package, a high-end version of the compact crossover. The 2023 BMW X1 xDrive23i features the M Portimao Blue metallic paint and the 19-inch wheels as shown in the video below.

BMW’s designers have made the X1 U11 into more fascinating especially in the luxury trim, which features multiple Shadowline enhancements to black out body elements like the mirror caps and kidney grille. In other words, the next-gen MINI Countryman will share the same platform, engines, gearboxes, and everything else as the current model, so anyone hoping for a funkier stylistic approach will have to wait. BMW’s Leipzig facility will assemble the two crossovers. Like the X1 and the iX1, the Countryman will have an all-electric offspring also.

With 218 horsepower, the xDrive23i is the most powerful gasoline version of the new X1, although a M Performance model will soon be available. The M35i is expected to feature 315 hp from a revised B48 engine that will also power the updated M135i and the next-gen X2 M35i. The “M Lite” version, like the xDrive23i, will only be offered with all-wheel drive.

Now that there is an electric version, it seems clear that BMW has another winner on its hands. Given that small crossovers remain popular, especially in the luxury market, BMW hopes its refreshed X1 will help it break its sales record established in 2021.
