BMW X1 Fire Command Steals Spotlight at RETTmobil 2023

BMW consistently dispatches a customized fleet to Fulda, Germany, for the annual RETTmobil event. This gathering, honouring emergency services since 2001, skipped 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19. Its popularity keeps growing, ensuring its place in Fulda until the decade’s end. This year’s occasion spanned from May 10 to 12.

In 2023, BMW unveiled a diverse range of crossovers. The latest X1, transformed into a fire command truck, used the xDrive20d specification. A modified, fully electric iX1 xDrive30 served as a rescue vehicle. Moreover, an X3 xDrive30d and an X5 xDrive45e, outfitted with portable blue lights, were showcased as medical emergency units.

These vehicles graced BMW’s booth, while Hänsch and Haberl Electronic showcased additional BMWs. Hänsch presented an iX show car as a medical emergency vehicle at RETTmobil 2023, while Haberl featured a fire department-ready X3. The AC Schnitzer i4 M50, initially revealed at the 2017 Essen Motor Show and part of the “Tune It! Safe!” initiative, also appeared.

Not just focusing on cars, BMW Motorrad showcased their police-specific F 850 GS motorcycle. Accompanying it was the CE 04 P, an electric scooter designed for urban law enforcement use.

As the year draws close, we’re keen to see an exceptional debut: the armoured 7 Series Protection, a top-tier luxury car. Its electric counterpart, the i7, is set to be officially unveiled in the final quarter of 2023.
