[Video] The BMW M4 Competition vs the BMW X5 M

With its relatively high curb weight, the latest BMW M4 Competition became the crowd-favourite when it was first unveiled. However, the German regulation mandates automakers to display their car’s weight ratings with passengers on board. As a result, the M4 Competition isn’t as heavy as BMW initially claimed. In addition, it isn’t as quick as it could be because of its high curb weight. But can it outrun the BMW X5 M Competition?

We get to see if the BMW M4 Competition can outpace a considerably heavier X5 M Competition in this latest video from Archie Hamilton Racing. The X5 M is a breathtakingly fast vehicle. However, it may seem absurd to test the M4 Competition against a massive SUV.

Producing 617 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, the BMW X5 M Competition uses a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. On the other hand, the M4 Competition can generate 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque with its 3.0-litre twin-turbo I6 engine. Furthermore, due to its all-wheel-drive system, the X5 M has a traction advantage over the M4 Competition with a rear-wheel-drive. However, the M4 Competition is still much lighter than the X5 M.

The X5 M Competition jumped ahead of the M4 Competition right away off the line. Leaving the M4 Competition behind, it took the lead fast, and the X5 M never failed. The M4 Competition is expected to be a true sports car, but the race says otherwise. Due to its struggles to put its power down, the M4 Comp’s traction played a significant role in the test outcome. With the upcoming M4’s all-wheel drive, we’re anticipating what it can do based on these test results.
