The time has finally come for the Special Editions battle between the lighter BMW M2 CS and the BMW M5 CS, BMW’s most powerful car. It’s hard to say who would win in this tight race. Sure, when it comes to the specs of both cars, the results are pretty straightforward. Despite that, both featured cars are very rare on the drag strip. Hence, don’t forget to watch the video.
Many car enthusiasts currently considered one of the cars as BMW’s best product on sale. Since the BMW M2 CS is no longer available, it would be the BMW M5 CS. Under the hood, the uber-sedan has the same S63 4.4-litre twin-turbo engine, but it’s tweaked to produce 635 PS and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. Compared to the ‘regular’ Competition model and its 625 PS, that’s just a little more. On the other hand, the lighter weight and gorgeous interior of the CS version captivated many car enthusiasts.
Compared to its bigger brother, the BMW M2 CS isn’t that quite as powerful. Considering the much smaller engine under the hood, it couldn’t possibly be. On a chassis far lighter than the M5 CS, the M2 CS makes do with a 3-litre straight-six tuned to produce 450 PS and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. Moreover, a rolling race almost nullifies the M5’s all-wheel drive systems offered advantages. Hence, the M2 Cs will have the upper hand in this race.
As known, putting the power down can be difficult as the M2 CS is a rear-wheel drive only ordeal. However, as seen in this video, it actually gets the jump and pulls ahead at first on the M5 CS as it launches smoothly. Yet, it didn’t last, as the M5 was outpaced by its vastly more powerful and larger brother.
