BMW Australia produces a special limited edition of the current generation 8 Series, the Heritage Edition vehicles. It is to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the renowned E31 model series. However, they will produce only nine cars for the Australian market in three body styles. These include the G14 Convertible, G15 Coupe and G16 Gran Coupe. Furthermore, BMW Australia plans to start deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Paying homage to its predecessor, the E31 840Ci, the 8 Series Heritage Edition will only be available in the 840i trim level. It features the classic rear-wheel drive and a 6-cylinder petrol engine. Power and torque are transmitted through an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission that delivers 335 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Moreover, the M Sport equipment line includes an M Sport rear differential, M Sport brakes and adaptive M suspension. It will all be standard on the limited edition 8 Series. A complete BMW Individual package underscores the exceptional status of these high-end vehicles.
The colours and leather upholsteries will be available in specified combinations. Exterior colours will include BMW Individual Frozen Marina Bay Blue, Black and Dark Silver. BMW Individual Full Leather Merino Black, Ivory White, Tartufo/Black will be available for the interior. Furthermore, M Sport 728M Y-spoke wheels in a black finish, M Sport red brake callipers and M high-gloss Shadowline exterior trim with extended contents will also be standard.
The 8 Series Heritage Edition will also offer unique customisation options. These include Walknappa leather upholstery, CraftedClarity glass application, and BMW Individual Piano Black trim. An M Alcantara headliner will be available for the Coupe and Gran Coupe models. The centre console will feature the lettering “Edition Heritage – 1/9” to emphasise the distinctive character of the 8 Series. In addition, this new 8 Series has special and rich standard equipment as found in the latest BMW models.
