Last year, BMW already announced that Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto integration will be available in their future models. Now, the option goes like in BMW 2 Series models.
CarPlay essentially copies the the user’s iPhone onto the touchscreen for easier integration. All the driver needs to do is to swipe and zoom, like what’s done in regular iPhone screens. The X5 M and X6 M is also expected to follow suit.
In the U.S., BMWNA announced that the first cars to use Apple CarPlay in the market are from the the 2 Series family. The option costs around $300. It can be purchased for the Coupe, Convertible, xDrive Coupe, and xDrive Convertible models of the 230i and M240i. The 2017 BMW 230i starts at $32,850, while the M240i costs upwards of $45,145.
Other automakers are also offering CarPlay, such as Audi, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Citroën, Ferrari, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Lamborghini, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Porsche, Peugeot, Seat, Skoda, Subaru, Suzuki, Volkswagen, Volvo, among others.
