BMW India had a successful year in 2022, with 11,981 units delivered to customers, including MINI brand cars. This marks a 34.9% increase in demand compared to the previous year. The BMW brand saw a 36.8% increase in sales, with SUVs like the X1, X3, X5, and X7 making up over 60% of total deliveries. Demand for these models was so high that some had a waiting time of up to six months.

The MINI brand also saw an 11.4% increase in sales, with the Countryman model being the most popular at 41% of total sales. The Hatch model followed it at 38% and the Convertible at 21%. BMW’s motorcycle division, Motorrad India, also saw a 40% increase in sales, with the G 310 R, G 310 RR, and G 310 GS models making up 90% of motorcycle sales.

In March 2022, BMW celebrated a milestone by assembling its 100,000th vehicle in India. This was an Individual 740Li M Sport Edition based on a previous generation model. BMW currently produces a range of vehicles at its Chennai factory in India, including the 2 Series Gran Coupe and the X7 SUV.

Last year, BMW India also introduced a range of “50 Jahre M Edition” cars to mark the 50th anniversary of its M division. These were regular models with the M Sport Package and a few extras rather than actual M cars.
