[Spy Video] BMW i8 Spyder caught Nurburgring Testing

Details about the BMW i8 Spyder has been very scarce recently so this new video showing it testing in the Nurburgring allows us to take another look at the prototype. The car only passes by but in one really good shot, we see that the i8 Spyder doesn’t look all that different from the standard car. Only the fabric roof and some noticeable folding sections at the rear are changed. We don’t know yet what kind of mechanism will be used in folding the roof because you have the engine, electric motor and battery also to think about.

As the BMW i8 Spyder passes by in the video, we also get to hear a little bit of its engine and exhaust note. It is powered by a turbocharged 1.5 liter three-cylinder engine that helps make, in the standard car, a combined power output of 357 hp when paired with the electric motors. It does sound quite good and when cruising with the top down, the sound will be better for the passengers.
