As part of their “Tune It! Safe!” promotion, AC Schnitzer improved the BMW i4’s safety with several upgrades. The German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure encourages citizens to legally and safely modify their cars. To show their support, AC Schnitzer has modified BMW’s electric gran tourer. Foliatec wraps this 2022 BMW i4 at the Essen Motor Show to make it look like a German police car, and it has a Hella police car signalling system.
The Aachen-based tuner went with the sportier M50, giving it a set of new 20-inch custom wheels shod with Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 tyres in front and rear sizes 255/35 R20 and 265/35 R20, respectively. AC Schnitzer lowered the i4 by 25 millimetres at each wheel by installing a special spring kit. This aerodynamic package features a larger-than-average front spoiler, splitter, and canards.
At the back of the BMW i4 M50 police car, you’ll find a carbon tailgate spoiler and a plastic roof edge spoiler. AC Schnitzer added winglets to the rear fenders above the taillights to connect the spoiler and bumper visually. Putting a protective coating on the rear skirt is the last touch to the external modifications.
Inside, there are only a tuner-supplied aluminium pedal set with a footrest, a custom iDrive controller cover, and an aluminium keyholder. BMW brought many M Performance Parts-equipped vehicles to the Essen Motor Show. You may see this in an M2 G87, an M3 Touring, or an M4 Competition Coupe. BMW also shows off their customised M240i Coupe alongside the standard model.
