[REVIEW] 2022 BMW M240i xDrive: At a Glance and Performance

Many enthusiasts have high hopes for the new BMW M240i xDrive when it launched. Wearing a Thunderlight Metallic with winter tyres, it will experience the winding mountain roads of the Black Forest. It is 105 mm longer, 28 mm lower and 53 mm wider than its predecessor, giving it a more confident stance. It also features exciting new design aspects, slimmer single-element headlights, oddly curved taillights and a boxy character.

The car offers an interesting mix of small and muscular size which looks more petite in appearance. Nevertheless, the appearance of the new 2 Series has divided minds. The most frequently mentioned criticisms are in its taillights and grilles that only open when cooling is needed. Compared to other 2 Series with their huge double radiator grilles, it has gained widespread acceptance in recent months. Because of its unmistakable character, the M240i is a classic BMW.

The choice of materials in the interior is outstanding. It features a small storage compartment under the bright control panel. With the 360-degree camera, reversing aid, head-up display, and the wealthy media display is now more accessible to the driver. These new features are a welcome addition and an improvement on the previous version.

Moreover, the 2022 BMW M240i is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-6 engine (B58) that is both nimble and torquey. The Steptronic 8-speed gearbox and all-wheel drive give the car a distinctive rear-wheel-drive feel and the ability to transfer up to 100% of its torque to the rear wheels. In addition, the 2 Series will get RWD this year, but there will be no six-speed manual gearbox.

With the same engine, this car outperforms the Toyota GR Supra and the BMW Z4 M40i. More than the 375 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque are available to you with your right foot when you drive the M2 coupe. It’s also possible to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds as the top speed is up to 250 km/h. In spite of the weight increase, the M240i xDrive will remain a one-of-a-kind offering that harkens back to the glory days of BMW.
