BMW delivers first class cruise for VIPs attending International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference 2013 (IMDEX Asia)

BMW_1107  Singapore – Performance Motors Limited (PML) and BMW Group Asia today jointly announced their sponsorship for the International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference 2013 (IMDEX Asia). A fleet comprising 220 units of both BMW 5 Series and 7 Series was officially handed over earlier to Experia Events for the three-day conference, which will be held from 14 to 16 May 2013 at Changi Exhibition Centre, Singapore.

Supported by the Republic of Singapore Navy, IMDEX Asia is recognised as Asia-Pacific’s foremost maritime defence show. The event, now in its ninth edition, has established itself as the platform of choice and a must-attend event for industry players and high-level government and navy officials to network, forge partnerships and tap business potential in the thriving Asia-Pacific region.

This will be the first time that PML and BMW Group Asia will be supporting IMDEX Asia as the official limousine brand. A fleet of 160 units of BMW 520i and 60 units of BMW 740i M Sport will be designated for the large-scale logistical requirements for distinguished guests and delegates.

The BMW 520i

The BMW 5 Series is an internationally acclaimed luxury sedan with a host of awards attesting to its top marks on quality, safety and value retention. The BMW 520i is powered by the new generation four-cylinder engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. It develops maximum power of 184 hp at 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 270 Nm, which is available between 1,250 and 4,500 rpm. Instantaneous power response helps the BMW 520i Sedan perform the century sprint in 8.0 seconds and achieve a top speed of 226 km/h. Simultaneous efficiency improvements are reflected in its average fuel consumption of 6.7 litres/100km and its CO2 emissions of 155g/km, both as per EU test cycle.

The BMW 740i M Sport

The BMW 7 Series is the brand’s flagship limousine that has redefined superiority in its class with ground-breaking efficiency, luxurious comfort and intelligent safety systems. The BMW 740i M Sport is unique to the IMDEX Asia 2013 fleet support. These units will be fitted with the BMW M Sport package which includes the M Aerodynamic package, sports suspension, BMW Individual interior upholstery, M leather steering wheel, 19’’ M alloy wheels.

The BMW 740i M Sport is fitted with a state-of-the-art 3-litre six-cylinder in-line engine. The state-of-the-art power plant is one of the first waves of highly efficient petrol engines to bring together BMW TwinPower Turbo technology with High Precision Direct Petrol Injection, twin-scroll turbocharging, Double-Vanos variable camshaft timing and Valvetronic variable valve timing. The BMW 740i M Sport is packed with 320hp with a maximum 450 Newton metres of torque on tap from as low as just 1,300 rpm. It is swift and makes the century sprint at 5.7 seconds. It achieves average fuel consumption of 7.9 litre/100 km and CO2 emissions of 184 g/km.
