Re: Lowering Spring VS Sport Spring?
j4c sells h&r springs i believe.
if u r referring to handling, then coilovers r definitely the way to go... harder but firmer ride. moreover they r adjustable. if u r only in it for the looks, springs r cheaper. but bear in mind that u gotta match them with appropriate shocks, otherwise they r just gonna wear the shocks out much faster... so in the long run might actually be a more expensive option and hassle to replace them shocks. |

Re: Lowering Spring VS Sport Spring?
Just a warning that I recently installed the bilstein b12 kit, which comes with bilstein b8 sprint shocks + supposedly H&R springs. It was harsh. Harder than some coilovers. Actually, it is bullshit that people claim that coilovers are harder than shocks and springs combo. Try Bilstein b8 sprint shocks + H&R race springs. Tell me if it is more comfortable than your KWs. Even with the bilstein b12 shocks, going thru some bumps can cause a pretty loud thump noise because of how hard the suspension is.
I 'rectified' that by swapping to eibach springs. It really reduced the harshness and is now a very good balance. Yes, the handling definitely is not as good but still much better than stock while comfort is just like stock suspension with 20" rims and very hard tires like AD07. Anyway, springs (not the very hard ones) and good aftermarket shocks would be good enough just to lower the car and have improved handling if that's what you're looking for. Coilovers for adjustable (if they are) height and damping in case you track or like to constantly adjust for whatever reasons. :P good luck in your search. |

Very well said Zennie! Stock suspension is really very comfy......too comfy like riding in a boat especially for E60......lembek feeling..... Today I gave 2 taxi rides to 4 bros separately, 2 bros at a time, to let them feel how my KW V3 feels like.... I'm running on 20" rims, car is lowered to 1 finger gap in the front & -1 finger gap at the rear. The 4 of them all commented it's not harshed & infact comfy at times...... Let them come in & comment........hehe 'The Great White'

Re: Lowering Spring VS Sport Spring?
Ahh...that day while driving out of sin ming auto care, I saw a white one and I think someone in the car was wearing a cap. Must be your car. Number plate looks similar too.
I am very sure that KW coilovers in general are very comfortable and yet handles much better than stock. Of cos they are more expensive too compared to shocks and spring combo but it is not much more considering the actual cost vs. benefit ratio. Should have gone for coilovers in the first place and am sure that KWs would fit the bill when you want comfort, the lowered stance, with improved handling while still keeping the comfort levels that accompanies a bimmer. Just don't want people to assume shock + spring would definitely be softer because they may be in for a surprise if they settled for a bilstein b12 kit. (imagine the same but with blood instead). Cos the springs that comes with that is pretty harsh.Quote:
