BUT, I must say that I will raise the spoiler because I don't want the stupid hydraulic to raise at 75MPH and lower at 60MPH all the time. I scared that the hydraulics will fail. The way I drive, it's 75MPH then zero, 75MPH then zero type, countless times a day.

What do you think?
the thing is that when you turn off the car, it will still raise and lower by itself.
I think the car is tested enough to ensure that the hydraulics do not fail that easily...it should last you through the warranty period

Re: Need BMW regulars' information: BMW Z4 Coupe 3.0Si

If I see one with the spoiler permanently raised, going from rest to 75MPH at every chance, then you're excused....!

Anyway, just an observation about Singaporeans and their cars. Quite sure you aren't a poseur, from reading your posts.

When are you doing the final test drive? Remember, "There is no substitute"!

Re: Need BMW regulars' information: BMW Z4 Coupe 3.0Si

I can't do the final test drive on a Stuttgart car, as the white gaytronic car was sold on sunday last week. But anyway, no need to do final test drive for me. I can anytime do it on my friends' Cayman S.

so the final answer, IF I manage to convince my better half and myself to get one (negotiations still ongoing) it'd be the Cayman. It's expensive, and don't know whether it's worth it, even if it's a half rational decision only.

Any idea on the depreciation of a Cayman Manual 6speed PASM white with black interior?

ONCE per engine turn is OK. BUT, 10 times or more per engine turn, egads!

Re: Need BMW regulars' information: BMW Z4 Coupe 3.0Si

Hey if you want a boxx because you like the sun and fresh air, cool. If you want a tippy for ease of driving, cool. Owning a tippy boxx does not automatically make you a poseur, but if I own a tippy boxx, I would be posing. I don't care for the sun and fresh air, and autotrans are for cars which I couldn't care less about driving, like the people mover odyssey or my current car.

By the way, if you want to buy one `someday' set July 2009 as your date of owning one. Expected that July 2009 is the date of first deliveries of right hand drive boxter 2 with a new direct injection engine. ENJOY!

Re: Need BMW regulars' information: BMW Z4 Coupe 3.0Si

Kurqa, I will not want to have DSG even if it is free. I always prefer manual trans. The feel of the shifter will feedback to you the gear position, DSG you need to see the screen for gear position. Of course, this is amateur speaking, but this is how I feel. I don't care shifting speed, I only care about driving pleasure. If I want shifting speed, I will go for tiptronic, surely faster than my hands since I am not a pro and I drive with great mechanical sympathy.

Anyway, the uprated DSG will be VERY expensive, and it will only be available as an option.

Shameless, I also don't want to wait, but negotiation with the better half will take a few more days.

I love my manual boxes too but when I get stuck in Friday evening CBD traffic, there are moments when I am thankful for my BMW's slushbox. As a rule, I seldom drive my Porker on Fridays because I know I'm going to be sitting in crazy rushhour traffic at some point and that heavy clutch won't be much fun. And the volume of traffic in town has gone nuts over the last 12 months or so.

Having said that, for leisure drives, nothing beats the thrill of a nicely-executed, quick upshift or downshift with a good manual gearbox....
