Re: Comparison between Cars

not flame bait, but doing my part to persuade folks that a manual is worth considering even in Singapore today ... hey I'm not an athlete but driving a manual car daily in the worst traffic (CTE+Shenton Way) is not an issue. Just have to carry driving shoes in the car that's all. And man, you're getting an M3. Saddling it with an auto ... well ... is like muting a soprano. Yes, I consider dual clutch and SMG both as autos coz they shift for you, right? That's all that matters, not the tech.

I used to think the S2000's transmission being the bee's knees, but now, I find that it's a little clinical, and a scrunchy transmission (best I've used is the Evo X 5-speed) wow!

Re: Comparison between Cars
Of stick shifts - the one I have liked the most is the RX8 as I said. Short, precise shifts. Press clutch, ram gear home!
Otherwise, my current favourite is Aston's sportshift - that's their DSG. No messing about - straight forward manual, no up or down shifting... only difference is that you use paddles instead of a stick. Doing 140mph around millbrook (in a V8 Vantage, with both a manual and a Sportshift car) on a not-so-nicely paved road taught me the multitude of reasons why more and more manufacturers are opting for paddles instead of traditional sticks. |
