Singapore Public Holidays for the Year 2006 1 April 2005 The dates for the eleven specified public holidays for 2006 are as follows: New Year's Day Sunday* 1st January 2006 Hari Raya Haji Tuesday 10th January 2006 Chinese New Year Sunday** 29th January 2006, Monday 30th January 2006 Good Friday Friday 14th April 2006 Labour Day Monday 1st May 2006 Vesak Day Friday 12th May 2006 National Day Wednesday 9th August 2006 Deepavali Saturday 21st October 2006 Hari Raya Puasa Tuesday 24th October 2006 Christmas Day Monday 25th December 2006 Hari Raya Haji Sunday*** 31st December 2006 * The following Monday will be a public holiday ** The following Tuesday, 31st January 2006, will be a public holiday *** The following Tuesday, 2nd January 2007, will be a public holiday 2.) The date 21 October 2006 for Deepavali needs to be checked against the Indian Almanacs when they become available towards the end of 2005. Should there be a change in date, the Ministry of Manpower will announce it towards the end of 2005. 3.) The public may obtain the list of public holidays for 2006 from the following: - The Ministry of Manpower’s Internet Website at http://www.mom.gov.sg - The Ministry of Manpower’s self-help Automated Interactive Voice Response System at 6438 5122
