Fullerton that stretch and the marina area very tempting to go fast.
talking abt fullerton, i tot i rememberd some young ah beng crashed or something a few yrs back, causing the death of his meimei passenger.....if driver die, thats his own desserts but pity the unfortunate passenger then. so next time if the speed demon pops up in any of ya, think of your passengers 1st before whacking the accelerator.

trying to evade police will go jail? cos they confirm weren;t slowing down when police trying to pull them over. lead them on high speed chase leh. this ain't really the same as going 110 on CTE...

i also hope the guy rats out the other drivers. Plenty of responsible drivers know how to go up North to proper track sessions, is there really any excuse?

Re: Street racers should go jail and get caned

well, ratting out i think also no use cos no proof....at most get them to go to LTA for inspection. anyway, most of the rounding sessions....out of 20 cars, dun be surprised that only 5 or 6 actually know each other, the rest mainly boh liao posers or tag alongs. Fullerton wise, i think that was most likely an impromptu race....maybe between frens or a few suddenly egoistic stranger drivers on the roads.

as for Bro Gaddafi suggestions, i think he is voicing out the tots of alot of Singapore drivers....have a track for drivers who need some speed....dun think he's LTA spokesman lah so dun be so sensitive lah some of u...haha

Re: Street racers should go jail and get caned

Street ricers are low lifes who place innocents in grave danger. Joking about street ricing doesn't help anything, only implies condonation. Heading up north to be reckless on our neighbour's public roads is exactly the same except you add to the any feeling of resentment against Singaporeans that might already exist.

Knowing situation, as well as own and car's limits is just a claim everyone repeats, yet the drivers who have died or killed others would have claimed just that, 2 minutes before they got into their accidents. The world's top drivers make mistakes, so why would any lesser driver be so sure of himself that he'd place himself in a situation where if he were to screw up the same or worse than any of the best drivers, he'd probably end up killing himself, his passengers, or other road users?

You would not joke about street ricing if you lost one of your immediate family to morons like the guy who killed that taxi driver. Think about how you would feel if you did not do your part to put down street ricing and anything related to it, and later on something were to happen to your loved ones. If you can't think ahead or think of others, then you deserve no pity when it comes back around and bites you.

A Singapore track will probably only help the problem slightly. There are already 2 great tracks (1 of which is in superb condition) within driving range of Singapore at 1 and 3 hours away. It's just a matter of whether you want to be responsible or not. I've heard some say they prefer the streets because it has more thrill from the risk, but it is irresponsible when it involves many people besides yourself. It is amusing that the street ricers who talk big (whether in private or public) about speeds they've done and what cars or who they've beat, can hardly turn a basic 80% textbook lap at any track.

===

I favour that if a driver is proven in multiple ways to have been street racing anywhere within 300 meters of any member of the public via combination of car state (parts, etc.), crash physics (speeds way above the limit), police witnesses / video cameras, public witnesses(running redlights, weaving, etc., with it leading to death of innocents, that the driver be put to death. Serious injury.. min. 10 years jail, caning, lifetime driving ban. No death no injury, but lots of evidence of reckless driving.. min. 1 year jail, caning, 10 year driving ban. etc.

A bullet leaving the muzzle of one of the most powerful rifles in the world carries about 15,644 joules of energy. A 1.5 ton car cruising at 150 km/h possesses about 8,457% that energy at 1,323,000 joules. The same car at 250 km/h possesses 22,800% of the bullet, at 3,570,750 joules. That is a tremendous amount of energy and requires matching amounts of responsibility. Moron doesn't want to be responsible? Then jail him, cane him, ban him from driving.
