Re: Small scale scanning and printing service

Thanks David and Will.

HP wants 450 SGD to replace my whole screen and
hinge. They say the hinge cannot be fixed separately.
For that kind of money I might as well add a bit and buy a smaller
more basic laptop for work and leave this thing as a desktop since it
can't be transported easily anymore and battery life sucked from the
start anyway, plus too big to fit in any of my pelican cases.

Got any recommendations for something cheap? XP would be great. All
I need is basic internet for email, good battery life is a must, high
speed USB a must, lightweight and slim is bonus. No need for any
optical drive. Got any lobang? I'll even take a used unit. Just
something I can toss in a bag and go to SIC with.

Mike, I thought shops will not photocopy or print copies of a copyrighted book?

I can do the scanning for you.... even if i scan it with OCR or Omnipage... u must have the software to run it.... OCR is not cheap..... Omnipage even more exp for licensed software....

I can do PDF scanning.... 600Pages how much u willing to pay??? How many books in total....

PM me if u are keen??

Re: Small scale scanning and printing service

Yup!

My last resort is to try Intesys at SLS, on Centu's recommendation. If they can't fix the hinge for a more sane price then I'll just leave the dv9000t at home as a crap secondary desktop.

Why? What do you have for sale?

===

Panzer and SSzone, sorry for the delay, I'll get back to you on the scanning and printing real soon. Thanks

Re: Small scale scanning and printing service

Thanks Will, I recently got mine fixed for 120 SGD at SLS. Intesys has moved away, but on the 5th floor there are at least 7 shops specializing in repairs, some of them laptop specialists.

HP is a low quality company and I will as far as possible NOT buy any of their products again. As mentioned before, the inbuilt webcam and lightscribe never worked from day 1, turns out they blame Vista for it.. but who cares.. If it doesn't work with Vista, don't sell that particular piece of hardware with the system or offer it as an option the customer pays extra for. Tech support obviously knows about the problems, but they lead you through the whole troubleshooting process just to waste your time. They constantly misunderstand what you're writing to them or even telling them on the phone to the point where I'm quite sure it is intentional. When it comes down to it, it's actually criminal.

Then barely a year later the hinge breaks and the screen splits open like a puppet mouth and HP wants 450 SGD to fix it, saying the screen has to be replaced with the hinge. Well how is it some guy at SLS can fix the hinge in about 2 hours and not have to change the screen and for abou 1/4 the price HP asked for. It all works good now but I suppose it's only a matter of time before it breaks again because of its retarded design.
