Latest move by the Traffic Police (TP)

In response to the latest move by the Traffic Police (TP), I wish to seek the views of members and guests here;

In most democratic society such tactic by the TP is not welcome as it is view as revenue generation and not doing what the TP suppose to be doing ........ Prevention !

Basically, what is said here is the TP let the traffic violators commit an offence (willfully, innocently or unknowingly) then booked him without giving him a chance to explain. This is no different from opening the bank vault and hiding behind the flower pots and waiting for robbery to happen, or just the same as getting super model to dress in see through bikinis and walking the alley of Geylang and then cry molest or rape!

Police here is to prevent crimes from happening, and in TP case speeding and violation of traffic. Enforcement will take place when persistent violators refused to heed the advice; reminders, preventions, warnings and educations. Hence, we get to see camera signs posting before the equipment, driving test theory and practical, traffic signals, TP patrolling, public education etc.

However, in this case, when a phantom police watches over our shadow, it's purely a case of guilty until proven innocent. Try sneaking behind your staff shoulders or secretly monitors their e-mails, you will see hundreds of violations done by them which could cost them their jobs. Have you ever not driven above 90km/h in Singapore? Try tailing a TP bikes or BMW, you will notice that they drive above 90km/h too ............ is it fair then for TP to be a phantom to penalize one of the biggest tax payers in Singapore

Well I mean is'nt this the best deterrence from the T.P.? At least they did publish in the papers and aired it on the news that they are using civilian cars to nab offenders. So while knowing that there are hidden cops, one should try not to violate any rules should'nt they? Or at least be that little bit slower and less recklessness on the road... For me, I will try to drive that little bit slower and not use my mobile without a headset anymore....

if singapore recognises that sex crimes will increase if they do not allow official red light districts in singapore, then the same logic should apply for speeding on singapore roads. either have a track, or eyeball a safe area for people to officially speed during special organised events or something. coz some guys need to smell tarmac while jerking off.

getting more and more undercover cops/ cameras will not solve the problem. they are just increasing their coffers.

Basically it comes down to these points:

1) In any civilized society, a person is deemed to be innocent until proven guilty. With this hare-brained system the burden of proof lies on the alleged offender.

2) "I did nothing illegal so I have no need to fear". Really? If someone else e.g. workshop mechanic/valet/relative is driving your car and commits an offence, will you be able to prove your innocence? Especially if the recorded event happened some time ago?

3) Entrapment. I have personally experienced SEVERAL situations where a car tailgating me is none other than a QX-registered vehicle revving at me from the lights, speeding excessively etc.

bro, you bought an evo. that's illegal to the LTA the moment you signed on the purchase agreement. hahahahha

if society frowns on people who sterotype according to race or the handicapped or gender, then you can similary write in a sob story on how TP sterotype evo drivers and expect them to race the moment they do a little revving at the lights. such discrimination is politically incorrect hurts your feelings. maybe can sue them for a bit of mod fund. hahahhaha

actually, what do you think TP will do if you report those TP bikes who ride above the speed limit, weave in and out of traffic, stop at the road shoulder every 500 metres, stop at the side of the road to use handphone, all WITHOUT sirens to indicate that they are breaking the law in the line of duty. All of which i see on a daily basis.

Earlier this year a friend and I were in 2 separate cars coming back from PG using 2nd link. We were on AYE keeping to the speed limit on lane 2. As we approached the bridge before the former Tang Dynasty I saw this speeding car in my rear view mirror. It overtook us with such speed that we couldn't even see the license plate but we could make out that it was TP BMW from the stripes and the make. He didn't even have his blinkers or siren on. My guesstimate was that he's doing 200+ kmh. He even had a non-working taillight (this was night time). He proceeded to filter into lane 3 and cut back into lane 2, narrowly missing a motorcyclist.

We both sent emails to the relevant people but there was no response from them. However everyone should just write in just so that they know we're watching.
