UNMARKED police cars have begun...

http://straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/sub...283363,00.html

UNMARKED police cars have begun patrolling areas like Orchard Road and Geylang, on the lookout for careless, inconsiderate or dangerous drivers.

More than 600 motorists have been caught since mid-August as a result of these new tactics.

Many were caught either weaving recklessly in and out of traffic, not signalling when switching lanes or causing another driver to jam his brakes.

Patrol officers also keep an eye out for those who speed, use their mobile phones when driving, or drive when they are drunk.

The cars - which look every bit like civilian ones - are driven by officers in plain clothes, so there is no way to tell them apart from other motorists.

They have been deployed to 'problem areas', where the incidence of inconsiderate or dangerous driving is high. These include crowded areas like Orchard Road, as well as deserted stretches like Lim Chu Kang.

Once the plainclothes officers spot offenders, they trail the vehicles and record events as they unfold with a video camera.

Offenders are not stopped on the roads as the police want to keep the squad of unmarked cars anonymous. Summons are sent out once the recordings have been reviewed. In some instances, however, normal patrol cars are alerted to intercept offenders.

This somehow..reminds me of HK. Don't they have a similiar system in place?

Wait..im a safe driver and i don't speed nor do any dangerous things anyway....

Ya, put your left hand on your girlfriend's lap and you might earn yourself a ticket with 12 demerit points.

Same rationale as using HP - distraction.

Well, CNB already incited people to sell drugs to them. So they could catch them.

Correct? Or is it wrong. Or is it correct in the eyes of the government? Or is it ethically correct?

In principle, both are pretty much the same bait-and-catch tactic; However, using such methods on the roads can result in devastating outcome...

Being pushed by another car can only result in a few types of reactions.
1) You go faster instinctively.
2) You give way.
3) You continue to bo-chap and "road hog"
4) You slam your brakes.

Alvin.
