Know any good immigration lawyers (SG-UK)

Looking for a good lawyer based in SG that deals with work permits for Singaporeans going to work in the UK.

From what little I've read on the net, the employer makes an application on behalf of the person they're trying to bring in. However my colleague who is working the deal out for me , being originally from France but having lived in the US for the last couple decade, hence unfamiliar with current UK immigration law, says that his friend in the UK who works for the company that is trying to bring me in says that I will have to make an application, in addition to the application that the company submits.

What I need to figure out is if I can make the application while I'm working here in the US. And if this is impossible and if I must return to Singapore to make the application, how long I must be physically present in SG from start to finish (departure for the UK). From what I've read on the net it takes only 2-4 weeks. I just need confirmation from someone who is familiar with all this, followed by help with the application and liasing directly with the UK company lawyer to make sure things are done right the first time. Have had too many problems dealing with INS in the US as an individual...lesson learnt.

If you know anyone good please let me know. PM works.

Thanks

Hey Shaun,

I'm not too familiar with this but why don't you check it out with the British High Comm here in Singapore? If you really need to make an application here as well it would have to be done through the British High Comm right?

Hi Barry, I'm just hoping someone has a friend that does this type of work. Friend of a friend always seems to work out well, much better than plain professional stranger out of the phonebook or through the High Comm. I found my current attorney in the US through friends and it has worked out really well. If I don't find anyone through friends/acquaintances then I'll check with the High Comm as suggested. Thanks very much
