Certificate of Entitlement prices have again risen, continuing the uptrend over the past few bidding exercises.

COEs for goods vehicles and buses shot up sharply by more than 40 percent to reach S$15,201 - an increase of S$4,395.

Observers say this is part of a last-minute dash to buy vans and trucks before a new emission standard kicks off from October.

Vehicles which comply with the new standard will cost 20 to 50 percent more than the current models.

The COE price in the Open category climbed by more than S$1,500 to $15,200, the highest in nearly half a year.

Smaller increases were registered in the other categories -

COEs for cars above 1,600cc cost S$811 more at $14,701 - a 10-month high, while those for cars up to 1,600cc went up by S$14 to S$13,003.
