About 4 years ago I spoke to Shawn (Racebred) outside Lye Designs at AMK autopoint and talked about an exige with a larger displacement engine and/or high massflow low restriction turbochargerif there wasn't enough area for a large displacement engine. Look what is winning now...

The new lotus espirit is rumoured to have a 367hp V8 from BMW. DOnt know how true it is but i reckon its the 4.8 from the 650/X5. Shaun, the R300 that won is a supercharged V6 outputting 400horses and its specially made for the proton team. The closest you can get to it is the Elise i think which is the Toyota's Celican SS2 Engine S/Ced which gived you 218hp knot-to-100 in 4.0secs.

I don't think this is close in any older and refined race series , I don't even recall when it was close in history? Closest in recent memory was Mid-Ohio this year where the Penske Porsche P2s took qualifying by a few tenths, and in the race still came in close second.

Yes the engines can be from anywhere and any spec, as long as they fit. Not limited to small 4 cyl or close variants.

More Picturess...As you can see some cars really got hit bad due to the downpour abt 3am which caused many of them to collide into one another in the corners.

ya, I was there as well. Our track si-fu Ringo was racing with two of our regular track kakis Weng and Mao under the Porsche Club Singapore team. This is the debut race for Weng and Mao and about 30 of us from PCS went to to show support and cheer them. Since this is their 1st race at MME, the objective was to finish the race, which they did and they were proud and satisfied of their results. As Welbo said, if is not for the clutch cable that broke early on SUnday morning (about 6 hours into the race) and took about 2 hours to fix, they would have finish somewhere 4th or 5th place overall.

In any case, well done and congratulations to Ringo, Weng and Mao. I also took some photo … enjoy!
