Re: Breyton Lowering Springs For E60

Changed springs today but without changing shocks. Heard that it will wear down stock shocks. Besides shortened life span, is there anything else bad about just changing springs only, or anything compelling for changing shocks as well? Gap now is 1.5 fingers front, 3 fingers rear, why not the same for both front and rear?

The correct way is to measure with a measuring tape at strategic points. The front and rear will be diff because the wheel arches are shaped differently..........

Hi Titanic,

Hows your ride with the lowered spring ? Do you have problems over humps & basement carpark? I would like to lower my 523 also but worried about parking & humps.

Ride is good. Front lowered by about 1 inch, back the same. No problem with bumps (in fact I feel the same before and after) or parking. Cornering defintely feels better.

I measure from ground to the tallest part of the arch. Origninal is about 68-69cm. With the new springs, the back is the same height as before. The front lowered by 1 inch.

Re: Breyton Lowering Springs For E60

Went back to Juzz4cars this morning. Response is that the rear takes time to settle down because the rear springs are built for the comfort of the back passengers, and time is needed to adjust to the weight of passengers + luggage. The 8mm difference in height between the left and right side of the car is also within tolerance, as I was told, and it acutally compensates for the way our Singapore roads slope.

Just curious, how does J4C do wheel alignment? do they do with weight added in the car ala PML?
