Modification E46 318 Stock to 320 Stock

Hi All,

Can anyone kindly can advise if its possible for to change fm my stock 318 (E46FL) to the twin tips of the stock 320? will i loose any power? where can i get it done? Man exhaust? Fong Kim? (who is less crowded?) is the mod extensive?

Actuali just like the look of the dual exhaust tips, so also wondering: anyone have one to let go (stock 320 exhaust)? please pm/sms(96821299) me your offer.

i tend to want to stick to stock exhaust to minimise the exhaust drone in the cabin, so not considering any after market.

Appreciate any advise.

Re: E46 318 Stock to 320 Stock

Hi ! richlee.

Somone has done it.........TobNik (Simon).

Or you can consider to add exhaust tip to your current pipe (AC Schnitzer Chrome Figure 8 Tail Pipe).

Fong KIm can also cut off you single pipe and attached a twin pipe to your exhaust. Quite an easy job.

Re: E46 318 Stock to 320 Stock

If you just want the tips, just get any exhaust shop to weld them on for you. Some more can choose any tips you like.

Unless you like the stock tips as well. Then you gotta retrofit a 320 and above muffler. Easily done with a Y-joint to split 1 pipe of a 318 to 2 to fit a 6-cylinder muffler. Tobynik has that on his ride. According to him, it feels better than his stock 318 exhaust.

Just wondering, for those who have done it. Any sound differences?? Better in what sense?

Re: E46 318 Stock to 320 Stock

Lai Liao Lai Liao!

OK, richlee Bro....Here it goes....

When first installed the 320 Stock Muffler few things noted:

1) Sounds better...more bassy than stock coupled with that slight rasp from the 4-pot Valvey
2) Mid to high end improved slightly as you rev....Butt-feel tells me it pulls better
3) Low-end torque was slightly sacrificed initially but after the GEN II Volker plugs and Sprint booster were insatalled, all's good to go again!

Got it done at MAN Xhaust..........

I actually had 1 spare 320 muffler lying around but gave it FOC to Rodney (Yendor) who said he wanted to experiment with operating the bugger........Don't know whether he still has it though...........

My verdict....Cheap and good mod......But if you're looking for major power gains, then "NO!". It just makes the 4-pot Valvey drive and sound better than stock.....

Cheers!

Re: E46 318 Stock to 320 Stock

I just got a quote from FK last week... to change my 318 to Remus exhaust and twin tips, including labour and LTA check is $1800. Can somebody tell me (or PM me) if this is the price I can expect.

Re: E46 318 Stock to 320 Stock

hey Bros, really appreciate the feedback. Btw, just a general opinion, FK or MAN's side is more prompt service? cos the other day i was at FK, stood around almost 10min but too many ppl to get any attention. (mayb cos i was driving my work ride: stock standard Corolla there...)... just to get a feel... thanks so much.
