AM drive/BKT breakfast @SG Renggam

It was certainly a refreshing start to the week, I must say! Thanks to Bryan (and Kai's arrow) for leading us to the place!

When the alarm rang at 5:45am, I jumped out of bed in anxious anticipation of the drive ahead. At 6:20am, I was in the car and making my way to Petronas (2nd link). On the way there, dark clouds cast additional shadows on the still-dark morning sky. Had my fingers-crossed that the drive to Nusa Jaya would be bright and sunny and not rainy. Funny thing at the customs, the customs officer was yelling a smiling comment about my car, BUT I could not hear him over the exhaust and he had to repeat his comment 3 times...

After setting the walkie freq and getting our hydration packs, we set out at 7:15am towards the rising sun. The sky was brightening and slowly spreading her rays over the green hills of palm trees. As we headed towards Kulai, the morning mist engulfed the hills and as we passed through them, it was indeed a drive into the mist. However, the "mist" did have a slight tinge of something burnt - might be some bush fire somewhere. That was not going to ruin the lovely day ahead!!! As we drove and past thru tollgate after tollgate, we were surrounded by lovely rolling hills that stretch to the horizon. The other Msian / Spore drivers were very disciplined (well, most of the time - unlike in Singapore when I was cut off despite my cruising speed on Lane 2 when I was driving back in Singapore). We stretched the legs of our cars every now and then. I was used to driving in convoys involving evos, but I must say, a black S2000 zooming up behind is quite an awesome sight. The convoy of 5 cars was easily controllable and giving each other space to manoeuvre, we swapped places every now and then. After about 30 mins of driving, we turned into the small town of sg renggam. Emerging from our cars, everyone was smiling ear to ear not only becos of the relaxing and great drive we just had, we were gonna have our delicious bak kuteh!!!


Super "gao" looking kopi-O. In fact, I thought it looked like something of a miniature waste mgmt pot. I had one - and it was actually pretty tasty!

After breakfast, we headed to a nice quiet place (in the morning anyway) for a photoshoot.



We actually got chased off by the highway / toll patrol as we were occupying one lane. So we simply headed to a nearby location, where someone actually stopped to ask us, "Are you racing?" which got Andy pretty fired up. "What kind of stupid question is that???" So we carried on taking shots...







We actually bumped into a group of oldies in their porsches and elise probably also doing a breakfast run. Inside our minds, we were thinking that this will probably be us in 40*ahem* years (after all, we are all in our early twenties). We had thoroughly enjoyed the morning, the drive and the company of the lads. Till the next breakfast club meeting!
