Malacca Trip - 15th Jul 2006

Hi guys,

Some of us went to malacca last Sat and tot of sharing with u guys about the trip.

There were 12 of us and we went in 6 cars. The meetup point was at Raffles Marina and I have arranged to meet at 6:45AM and move off at 7AM. But unfortunately, Ms Organiser aka "me" overslept..hahaha.. and some of them were waiting for my morning call, in the end, half of the number were late...keke.. so we moved off at 7:20AM instead. The second link was a bit jam, by the time we cleared both Singapore and Malaysia custom, it was around 8AM.

We went for toilet break at the stop immediately after the malaysia custom, moved off at 8:15AM and within 1 min, we kena caught speeding by the malaysia police and we were only travelling at 128kmh. So bo bian, "Do what we supposed to do"..me not going to say here lah.. all should know..ya. Then the polices told us there are 2 more speed traps in front, one at Yong Peng and one near Pontin or something like that. And true enough, we saw police cars at these places.

We were travelling between 140 to 170kmh up and it took us 3 hrs to reach Malacca with 1 R&R stop.

By the time we reached Malacca, its around 12PM

We went to this Peranakan rest called Ole Sayang. There is a big carpark behind the rest and can easily park up to 100 cars.

But we didn't park there, we went to park at the roadside...happily chit chat and makan.. After lunch, came out and saw all our cars kena summoned..hahaha...Joke of the day... and some of them were still discussing whether should pay or should not pay the tickets.. then wherever we went and parked our cars, we will take out that ticket and put at our windscreen....damn funny..

After lunch, we drove around zonker street and we found a big carpark near to zonker steet and the sightseeing places.

Took some pics... then started to move off and saw this roadstall selling chengdol. So we decided to park next to the stall and ate another round of chengdol.. Delicious!!! Better than the one at Peranakan Rest...

Thereafter, we proceed to buy tidbits and pineapple tarts

and by the time we finished, its around 230PM. We went to pump petrol and started to move back to Sin. When we reached the Malacca toll, its around 3PM and this round we asked 2 cars to gun first and called the other 4 cars behind if there is any police cars in front. It took us less than 1.5 hrs to reach Singapore and we were travelling at 180 to 220kmh.

It was a very fun trip, but i must say that it will be tough to organise for a big group to go. The carpark is not an issue in Malacca, but there are a lot of traffic junctions and the streets are mainly one lane street. So the chance of breaking up is very high and it is very difficult for you to wait and rejoin the convoy. As for the walkie talkie, we were using the talkabout and it was pretty good if the cars are not too far away, we were going at 180kmh and it is still loud and clear. But once the cars are out of your sight, we cannot hear anything. So i don't think i will organise a Malacca trip for the forum, coordination is a bit tough.

Now i am looking into Genting or maybe Port Dickson.. overnight trip.. still thinking...hehe

Re: Malacca Trip - 15th Jul 2006

hi,

Good photo shoots on the expressway !!! I like the one taken on the cars behind from the passenger window.

On the traffic police subjects, be careful whenever you are about to enter a city/ town. They could be found normally within 3km distance from entering the city. (so that they can easily stop you in the busy street within the town.). I ever saw one policeman hiding under a pedestrian bridge as I drive into Yong Peng. He had is camera on the tripod and sitting on a safari bench and wore normal traffic policeman uniform.

Another camera spot that likely to be found is somewhere not far off after you leave the first petronas station going northward. Therefore, do be careful.

Re: Malacca Trip - 15th Jul 2006

Sorry guys.. i actually wanted to organise for the forum 1 month ago.. but i was afraid that coordination will be a problem for a big group to drive up north. Thats why i decided to go in a smaller group and check out whether the idea of going Malacca in a big group is feasible. And i realised its gonna be tough..

Jason, sorry lah.. i didn't want to make this e90 outing, it is just so happened that i had done a few drives with these ppl... i always jio u go party, didn't i? hahahahaha..Fri we go party...ok?

Those who msn me, pls don't scold me anymore... i promise i organise one swee swee one for u guys... we go relax and stay overnite and have party at night one....K?
