Re: Tire pressure for E36

Depends on the tires you put on.. you can read them from the tires imprint for max. allowable pressure. Higher pressure handles a little better but not comfy, lower pressure more comfy but little bit sluggish.. again depends on how much horses.

Re: Tire pressure for E36

Mini... his is 18" with 245, so the standard 220 kpa may not apply in his case. Anyway for overinflated tires, the wear is usually on the center portion. Although the doors has got a sticker to guide you, it is also better to counter check your tires imprint for confirmation. Tires today are pretty complex, depending of what you choose. tires profile, build and material used will have different demand. If yours the standard fare, then no problem with 220 - 245 kpa.

Re: Tire pressure for E36

Hi Pingman, most tires have the max. pressure indicated in very small print on the tire itself. Over-inflating a tires basically forces the thing to bulged, hence your center portion would show excessive wear compared to the edges. In most circumstances (including wet condition during rain or shortly after), car feels more lively, however, in dusty road condition, wheel spins may occur if driven agressively.

Then, there's is a possibility of a blow-out if you hit a sharp object or one with sharp edges at some speed. A blow-out at speed can be dangerous.

You can also try and check from the tires' manufacturer site normally listed in the "specifications" tag. The list down information not only for pressure rating, also heat range, diameter, compound, full radial etc etc.

Re: Tire pressure for E36

Hi Pingman.. nope.. me on 17" with 225, so I seldom exit 240 kpa. The way you describe, your tires do sound "soggy'. What tires you have? seems like sidewall pretty soft. Check the manufactured date and make sure that it is not expired.
