Re: E36 registry list
Quote:
I contacted the vendor in the UK directly (after first searching around the various UK forums for recommendations of the best ECU chip). This one is said to add about 10-15% over standard - i.e. between 14-21bhp - while helping fuel consumption. Even if that's optimistic and its getting less power, its still approx. 10bhp - a useful increase. All this is achieved by re-mapping the ignition profile - its a straight swap of the existing ECU. Cost was S$385 incl. postage from the UK. Money well spent! In terms of performance difference, overall it makes the car harder, especially in the mid-range. Whereas previously it was pleasantly fast, after fitting the ECU chip it feels very strong in the mid-range. So now, along with the intake (K&N) & exhaust (Supersprint), the top-end is also optimized - head was already ported & polished, and the ECU chip optimizes the ignition mapping. I'd like to think that, all-up, the Red Bull is putting out about 160bhp at the flywheel - which is a realistic assumption. Fast enough, esp. when driven with the aircon off & windows open (which I like to do).

Is this for real? If so, still on the road? Nice...
