Orchard Road Caution

Hi Guys,

For those of you who drive to work via Orchard Road,
Please be informed that there is a contract worker frm Sembcorp stationed daily during morning and evening peak hours (Or bus-lane timing) at Orchard Road for the purposes of catching people who stray into the bus-lanes.

His favourite location is just after the bus-stop in front of Tangs, where the slip road to Orchard from Scotts Road is, sometimes he also positions himself slightly further down after the entrance to Lucky Plaza. Quite easy to spot as he's in uniform. When he doesn't bring his camera, he just brings his notepad to take numbers down.

So please be careful, don't stay into the bus lanes, if you do, make sure its the area where there's dotted lines.

I got caught in December last year for entering Lucky Plaza carpark. I got summoned for a good 130$ at around 2:30pm and i sent in my appeal because i too, saw that guy standing there and smiling when i turned in. It doesn't make sense because i HAD to turn left into the carpark.

There is current NO bus lane hours on the WHOLE of Orchard road because of a FULL DAY bus lane ruling they implemented in October.

A new addition to Singapore's roads is a red lane marking along Orchard Road. It indicates a full day bus lane that runs along the stretch of Orchard Road from Paterson Road to Dhoby Ghaut.

This lane is expected to significantly improve journey times for bus users and is in operation from 7.30am to 8.00pm, Mondays to Saturdays, excluding public holidays.

Motorists should keep clear of the full-day bus lane during its operational hours. Offenders will face a fine of $130.

The Land Transport Authority has introduced the full day lane as a pilot scheme which will be re-assessed in March. If it is found to improve bus travel times, it may consider introducing such full day bus lanes at other busy locations.

Thanks for the update - Hell, I didn't even know abt this full day bus lane ruling!
Its no wonder they've got these guys out in force.

Sorry to hear about your summon, I agree the Lucky Plaza part's abit tight cos' the dotted lines are just exactly almost where the entrance is. I mean, what do they expect people to do, swerve left directly from the outer lane and potentially cause an accident? Geeez ..

i think i might... sometimes when i take bus i will take at that bus stop... if i see the guy , think i'll take his pic..since i always hav my cam wif me..hehehee
