Newbie How to find out service history?

Hi all, as above. What is needed to find out about the servicing history of a car? As I go about looking for my next ride, car owners talk about having regular servicings done at PML. My thought is : "how can I verify that?"
- will PML entertain my queries about any car if I am not the owner?
- can I go to any PML service center or there is a specific location to enquire?
- what are the costs involved?

Appreciate any advice if you've prior experience.

Have a good weekend.

Re: How to find out service history?

might want to check out with PML if they can release info to u. else ask current owner to show servicing history from PML to u.

Re: How to find out service history?

will give PML a ring next week. it's not the regular servicing (like 10k, 20k or 50k) that I am concerned with, it's more of the 'irregular' warranty claims and visits that the pre-owned car had made with PML that I am interested in finding out. It might just allow me to root out the 'lemons' in my search.

It is hard to see any service info because PML stopped updating the little service booklet already. They keep all the service records in their computer system. I would suggest calling PML and just ask when the car was serviced. I think this request is perfectly fine.

Not sure other than telling you when the car was last serviced by them they are willing to reveal warranty replacement info. Nonetheless, call them. You won't know unless you try.

Re: How to find out service history?

Here's what I found out after calling the PML service hotline:

Service history can be made available under the following conditions:

i) Over the phone - requires the chassis # (ideal) and/or vehicle number. Information provided will be the type of service done and the mileage it was done at during the last service visit

ii) Visit to PML service center - requires authorization letter from owner (seller) to PML to release service history. If just enquiry over the counter, no charges involved. If require printout, then charges apply but the customer service I spoke to was not sure of the exact costs (believe will be >$100)

Hope this information is useful to all

Re: How to find out service history?

$100 for a piece of paper. PML tok lang ah.....kill people put fire ah.....
Ok la, maybe it's free for owner but for non-owner must pay. So fair.

My take is this: a seller would be eager to prove to you his PML service history, so he should be able to show to you FOC by getting it from PML or from his own records. What is risky is what is not serviced or what is not detected yet......and if the owner wants to sell a lemon, most likely he will not want to spend money to repair his car at PML and will want to sell it fast fast. So in this case no record also

Re: How to find out service history?

Service record is not conclusive of the car condition, if you are really concerned about the history, why not get an independent mechanic to give you his assessment (in this way, money is more well spent than paying PML for a piece of paper).

Alternatively, you can also source your next ride at PPSL, I think they may be able to produce the car's service record for your reference.
