Bribing M'sia Police ?? READ THIS

Got this in my mail yesterday....

If you are going Malaysia, be careful if you are into bribing the
police...

i never bribed them before. i say that with dignity and pride. i am an honourable man...but a busy man. as i am often in a hurry, i ask them politely,"sir i am a foreigner, can i pay here instead?"

That's what I've been trying to say - they're tightening the screws.

What you can do is:
1. Be very polite
2. Plead with them
3. If they die-die don't wanna back off, tell them to issue the summons*

*It is very troublesome (a lot of paperwork) to issue a summons and they may be disinclined to do it so if they see that you're not biting on the "coffee money" bait, they may just let you off instead.

looks like nowadays the coffee money has gone up... at least equivalent to the reward
gone are the days when one just need to keep extra RM 50 going up north!

perhaps, if the police bring too many people to the authorities for bribing, their easy money will stop. So, I guess it still continues. Why kill the goose which lays the golden egg?

I heard from my acquantance that somebody just paid 50 ringgit recently.

Scenario: travelling at 180, saw police in front. Followed for 5 minutes. fed up. overtook the cop car, instantly the sirens blaring and flashing me. Stopped, paid 50 bucks, asked him to radio ahead to clear the road.
