Nice review!
Do you think it will be a good track car? Even without LSD?
The e90 boards are reporting overheating problems. It'll not be fun to have the car shut down after a few hot laps at sepang.

Re: E46M3 vs E92 335i - Tested and driven

yeah.. the current m3 would be equalled and even overtaken in terms of all out speed soon.. at similar performance and price, i still think the 6 yr old technology on the s54 wud be more 'desirable' to own than the 335..

but wait, imagine what the v8 m3 gonna be like..

My answer is simple:
The E46M3 feels special in every way. It’s an icon from the M-Division and has always been the industry benchmark for front engine rear wheel drive performance car in the world of automotive. It sucks to know that 335i can closely match the M3 but hey, it’s a different league altogether.

Jack
Good write up.

But one can't compare the current M3 with the new E92 335, its a 6 to 7 years diff in technology. Things have changed n improved along the way. Even handphones come with built in video now Having said I dont think the M-cars can just survive based on its history n icon n quad-exhaust pipes. The new M3 will have to be better than the 335, and a lot better it had better be. My guess is BMW gmbh had already had this thought through thoroughly in their overall product plan. Those guys will put something into the new M3 which is not found on the 335. Otherwise who buy the new M3? And the marketing director of BMW will get fired

Re: E46M3 vs E92 335i - Tested and driven

the new M3 will get a roaring V8 with over 400 BHp with probably much more torque than the RS4 or the Maserati... thats my gut feeling...

that should kill off everyone once and for all..

sigh....

And I will be in a distracted mess again...

sigh...
