Urban legend? Purportedly, Neez, Schmeiden, Champion Motorsports, HRE, RAC, I heard all the same 8000 ton forge in Japan. The only other manufacturer with such a forge is BBS.

This kind of forge makes possible to spread forge 6061 aluminium and form an entire wheel from a single billet of aluminium.

Given the same forge, the weight is a function of design and customer limitations only.
